In Times of Political Turmoil, Cling to Jesus!

Obama won because of fear.

Fear of the economy tanking, of which the Obamamedia and the candidate convinced a small majority of voters, enough for him to win.

The Obama campaign, with the aid of the relentless media, told us that America is in the worst economy since the Great Depression. Yet, last time I looked, most people have several cell phones, two cars, several flat screen TVs, at least one computer if not more, and plenty of food in the pantry. And some people even have a DVD player in their SUVs!

We are the most well-off society in the history of the world. Maybe we've had to cut back a little. Goodness knows my own family is temporarily experiencing a financial shortage.

I saw true financial shortages when I traveled to Romania in 1991. A rural village we went to was the poorest group of people I've ever seen. The children had no shoes and stood around in the mud. Flies were everywhere. In fact, we brought a whole swarm of flies with us back on the bus.

Yet these villagers were thirsty to hear God's Word. They were grateful that we, the first Westerners they had ever seen, had come all this way to share the love of Jesus with them.

They had survived a communist regime that left them destitute.

And now, out of fear, we have elected a president who is a closet Marxist. I say closet because he convinced the voters that 95% of Americans would get a tax cut, a conservative issue. He struck fear in their hearts so they voted for security. So what if we lose some freedoms?

That's how it will be: the country is in an immense crisis so we have to do something, we have to go toward socialism. This is what Henry Paulson and sadly, President Bush, have done already with the credit bailout. We were told that there was a huge crisis and we had to act immediately. No examination on how we got into the crisis in the first place. Just throw money at it! A band-aid solution.

Fear is a great motivator. I'll admit, it motivated me this election, but NOT to vote for Obama.

Now that he has been elected, I am facing a lot of fear. What will happen to our IRAs? Is he going to raise taxes? Will my pursuit of success be punished as I certainly want to earn more income down the road? Will homeschooling our son become illegal? What if he takes away gun rights? Maybe I better get that gun and learn how to shoot since that right may become something of the past....

But then I remember the words from the Bible: Perfect love drives out all fear.

Now more than ever, I need to spend time with my Lord and Saviour Jesus. I need to read His word, pray, meditate, journal. I need to depend on Him minute by minute. The stress and uncertainty these last six months have been unreal. A key investment decision we made is now being affected by these economic times and my husband's hours have been cut back at work.

But I realize the one I have to depend on is NOT any human being, certainly not the Messiah Lord Barrack Obama, as he's jokingly called in talk radio. I depend on the Lord Jesus Christ. In these uncertain times, that is whom I must cling to.

Then His perfect love will enable me to rise above the fear, even to fly.

Like my afternoon of rollerskating yesterday. I went to my son's homeschool support group party and got back on skates after a 10-year hiatus. My legs and ankles are considerably weaker now so it was scary. But I began to gain confidence bit by bit and the more I skated, the better I felt. I was skating to the music and I loved it. At the last skate, which was to a Christian song, I was so overjoyed that I felt like I was flying, floating on a cloud, and that my best friend Jesus was skating next to me!

I got that feeling again today when I went to the mail store and picked up a package. It was my new product line, Blessed NOT Stressed. I opened the box with the teddy bear in it and there was my design, so beautifully made on this adorable little bear. I felt like I was flying! I took a risk and ordered these custom products, initially for a craft fair, and was very pleased with how they turned out. Holding that bear in my hand, I knew that I had designed a true winner. A creative product line that has the potential of solving our own financial crises.

And in these uncertain times, people need to hear this message more than ever: America is blessed NOT stressed! I am eager to share it with the world! I went to a thrift store after my errand and I had a smile from ear to ear! I noticed how stressed and gloomy most people acted. What a privilege to have a product that will inspire people's lives! I can't wait to share the whole story of how Blessed NOT Stressed came about, which I will do soon for a podcast with a 10,000 plus audience.

We ARE blessed! We live in the best country in the world! We have so much to be grateful for! When we are afraid, we need to stop, to cling to Jesus. Not reacting out of fear, but responding to challenges and finding creative solutions.

With Jesus we CAN walk on water. Nothing is impossible with Him. Like the Apostle Peter, we can get out of the safety of the boat and get out on the water, too, faithfully walking toward Jesus. And when we take our eyes off of Jesus, as we as humans inevitably do, and we look at the wind and waves of circumstances, starting to fall and feel threatened by drowning, we can cry, "Lord, save me!" And He'll reach down immediately and give us a hand. We will get back in the boat and He will bring us to the other side.

We will get through it. Because if we humble ourselves and pray, God will forgive our sins and heal our land.

Next week: Did your beagle vote for Obama? Or can you see a lot of GOP in your border collie?
